May 26, Saturday was an extraordinary Saturday, DigitalDavao experiences Petron Best Day with the Petron Tri-Action Run Participants and Mr. Robin Padilla.
The Petron Tri-Action Run sets in Davao City to start it’s tour of the Philippine Islands from Mindanao to Luzon. Eight (8) teams of two (2): driver and navigator, will tour the country with different Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) such as Ford Everest, Toyota Innova, Honda CR-V and Ssangyong. These teams are going to experience first hand the benefits of Petron Diesel Fuels while touring. These group of participants has been doing these kind of tours for years and this year they partner with Petron and the different car manufacturers.
Now, you might be wondering, “how DigitalDavao got into this mix?” well it might just be our lucky day to spend it with Petron. We were asked to tour the participants to marquee places in Davao, such as The Philippine Eagle Center and the Malagos Chocolate Museum. DigitalDavao seizes this moment to take part and represent. This is an opportunity that we can’t miss and it definitely sounds fun, right? #PETRONBESTDAY “BEST DAY”.
The day starts with a lunch at Marina Tuna Seafood Restaurant at their Sasa branch. DigitalDavao came in with the Media Team covering the event. I was introduced to everyone as the local blogger who’s going to take them to the Philippine Eagle Center and the Malagos Chocolate Museum. But before that, i had to join them feast on the different dishes Marina Tuna has to offer.
Sinigang na hipon, Sinuglaw, Oysters with tausi sauce, Grilled Tuna Panga, Tuna Bagaybay and four (4) different kinds of sashimi are some of the food that was served. Ms. Novelyn Quiamco tried the Tuna Bagaybay and liked it. The other participants were looking forward for the dessert as they were served different variants of durian.
After the sumptuous lunch, a short-talk was done by Ms. Belle telling the participants of the next activity which is going to the two tourist spots in the city. I was then officially assigned to the lead car which is the Ford Everest, driven by Mr. Raul Asuncion.
Everyone huddled at the parking lot and divided the group into two. 4 Teams were assigned to each tourist spot. The initial plan was to take the last four cars to Malagos Chocolate Museum then lead the first four cars to the Philippine Eagle Center. Both spots are only 600 meters away from one another. Traffic was not that heavy, only having some of the team stuck on stop lights which made the lead team crawl on the road and wait for them. While riding with Sir Raul, I told him something about the different things we passed by, like the newly opened diversion road bridge which was inaugurated just last May 24. We also took the bypass road to Calinan to hasten our trip and avoid traffic.
At about three in the afternoon we reached the Philippine Eagle Center and booked ourselves a tour around the facility. The participants were amazed and in awe when the saw the different eagles and heard the stories about them. PAG-ASA still is the headline when we talk about the Philippine Eagle, and the stories about the other eagles were also as good to hear. Like how these eagles were adopted and how they had survived. We took some photos and enjoyed the view of these majestic symbol of not just Davao but the Philippines as a nation.
Time check and it’s four in the afternoon and we have a call time to gather at Petron Airportview after an hour of travel from the Philippine Eagle Center.
We were a bit challenged by the traffic in Buhangin area approaching the underpass where two-lane traffic converge to a single-file. We reach Petron Airportview at 5:20PM and everyone prepared for the opportunity to meet with Mr. Robin Padilla.
Mr. Robin Padilla AKA IDOL, the bad boy of the Philippine Cinema, joined the participants of the Petron Tri-Action Run for a photo-op and gave the local fans some love by taking selfies with them. Robin Padilla showed unequaled patience in giving his followers time take photos with him and even went to small-talks with some. Truly giving everyone their BEST DAY AT PETRON.
The day ends with dinner at AHFAT Seafood Plaza, another must-try restaurant of the city for travellers and visitors. Mr. Robin Padilla joined us for dinner as well.
I personally do not know if I truly deserve this day, but thank you PETRON for giving DigitalDavao this opportunity to experience #BESTDAYATPETRON.
To the participants of the Petron Tri-Action Run to tour the Philippines, may you enjoy your experience and have a safe tour. Thank you for making DigitalDavao a part of your Davao experience.
