Project Hail Mary on iMax, have you watched it?
At first, I had no idea about the film. Later on I was enlightened that it was from a popular novel which got turned into a film. It stars Ryan Gosling and Sandra Huller.
The story revolves around how Earth is threatened by a mysterious alien microorganism called “astrophage”, that absorbs/blocks the Sun’s energy from reaching the planet, possibly causing extreme cold and threatens human extinction. Eva Stratt (Huller) is working with scientists around the globe to come up with a solution. Comes the character Ryland Grace (Gosling), a teacher who had written research that could possibly help in the solution to the astrophage issue. Stratt then was forced to put Grace on a one-way mission to fly outside the Earth and get some answers. During the mission, Grace had an encounter with an alien who he later called, “Rocky”. Together, Grace and Rocky went on the mission and they discovered a possible solution which they sent back to Earth. Grace made the ultimate sacrifice to redirect his ship and rescue Rocky, leaving him no way back home. Grace probes successfully reached Earth, allowing Stratt and humanity to save the Sun. Grace lived in a specially built dome, teaching science to a classroom of young Eridian aliens.
The movie may feel so scientific with all the terms they used but this movie had some tricks up its sleeve to pull some heartstrings. All in all, it was a nice movie to watch . iMax experience makes it much better, you see space come to life.
